How can I clean my fabric blinds?
While fabric blinds can attract dust and dirt easily, they’re also simple to clean. You only need a few
cleaning tools plus some water and soap to quickly bring them back to their former glory. You’ll also need a
surface to lay your blinds out to dry. While washing your blinds only requires a few tools, some water, washing
powder and your time, it’s something we don’t always do very often. A dining table works perfectly for this, as
it’s best to keep them flat to help them maintain their shape.
- Remove blinds and clean head rail.
- Dust your blinds.
- Wash blinds in warm water.
- Lay blinds out to dry.
- Rehang blinds on the head rail
How can I clean my wooden blinds?
Your blinds are exposed daily to strong UV rays from the sun as well as dust, grease, pollen and bacteria.
Getting your wooden blinds looking and feeling brand new again couldn't be easier. Here are some hints, hacks
and tips to achieving sparkle clean Venetians.
OFor real or faux wooden blinds, you should start by removing the dust. The best way to do this is to open the
slats and run a clean soft cloth (try microfiber) or feather duster along each slat individually.
Now that you’ve removed the dust on your wooden blinds it’s important to determine whether you have a real wood
blind or a faux wooden (plastic/pvc) blind, as the two cleaning methods are different.
- Run a cool bath
- Add 2 to 3 cups of bleach.
- Remove your blind from the window.
- Place blind in the bath for approximately 10 minutes.
- Remove from the bath and dry with a soft cloth.
- Rehang your blind (hopefully it’s clean again!)
- Hopefully the bleach bath worked.
If not, you may need to consider replacing your blinds.
